U.S. celebrations may offer monarch a long-awaited family moment
King Charles may soon have the chance to see his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as talk grows of a possible reunion in the United States.
The speculation follows the two-day State Visit of U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to Windsor Castle, where the King and Queen Camilla hosted a series of engagements and a glittering State Banquet. The trip, filled with royal pageantry, reportedly left the American leader “speechless.”
According to The Telegraph, a senior White House official revealed that Trump could extend a special invitation to King Charles for America’s 250th anniversary of independence next year. Such an invitation might open the door for the monarch to see Harry and Meghan’s children while in the U.S.
Reflecting on his visit, Trump said: “We’re grateful beyond words for the spectacular honour of the State Visit yesterday at Windsor Castle, hosted by His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty, Queen Camilla. These are two fantastic people. We will never forget it.”
The possibility of a reunion comes soon after Harry’s meeting with his father at Clarence House — their first substantial conversation in nearly two years. If King Charles travels across the Atlantic, many royal watchers believe he will make time to visit Archie and Lilibet.
