King Charles and Prince Harry may be closer than ever to one of their most pivotal encounters, with insiders calling the prospective meeting a “make or break” moment in their strained relationship.
The Duke of Sussex is set to return to London on September 8 for the 2025 WellChild Awards, a date heavy with personal meaning as it falls on the third anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing. It will also mark his first visit since losing his legal battle over UK security in May.
Speculation is building that father and son could finally meet face to face for the first time in nearly two years. Their last in-person encounter came in February 2024, shortly after the King revealed his cancer diagnosis.
The possible reunion follows reports of secret peace talks in July, where Harry suggested aligning his schedule with the Royal Family’s official calendar to avoid clashes. The move was seen as a notable olive branch from the Duke.
“This meetup is make-or-break,” a royal insider told US Magazine. “If it goes well, it could encourage other family members to be open to better relationships. But if tensions spill over and negative details leak, then it’s done — there will be no chance of rebuilding trust.”
Despite the risks, both Charles and Harry are said to be motivated to clear the air. The King’s health struggles have reportedly been a catalyst for reconciliation, while Harry is said to want his children to build a meaningful bond with their grandfather.
