TikTok clip sparks mixed reactions during Trumps’ visit
Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump arrived in the United Kingdom on September 16 for their second official state visit. The couple was welcomed by Prince William and Catherine before being received by King Charles and Queen Camilla. Over two days, they attended a series of official engagements, including a grand state banquet.
It was during that banquet that Melania became the focus of social media attention. A TikTok video, now viewed more than two million times, shows Queen Camilla appearing to speak to the First Lady. Instead of responding, Melania looks away and seems to engage in conversation with Prince William.
The moment quickly divided opinion online. “She is the Queen Consort who is the host. That’s rude of her,” one commenter wrote. Another said, “She has no class and is dressed so inappropriately.” A third added, “Poor Camilla, she’s talking to herself.”
Others defended Melania, suggesting the clip was taken out of context. “She wasn’t ignoring Queen Camilla, she was just engaged in a conversation with somebody else,” one user argued. Another added, “They were both simply speaking to different people at the table. People are overreacting.”
The viral clip has sparked debate, with some calling Melania’s behaviour disrespectful while others see it as an innocent misunderstanding.
