Prince Harry accused of using King Charles III’s ‘stardust’ to stay relevant

Royal expert brands Duke of Sussex’s recent UK visit a ‘PR stunt’

Prince Harry has faced sharp criticism from royal commentator Ingrid Seward, who claims the Duke of Sussex is trying to leverage King Charles III’s public image to remain in the spotlight.

Harry, who quietly marked his 41st birthday on Monday, recently spent four days in the UK from September 8 to 11, carrying out several charitable engagements. The highlight of his trip was a private reunion with his cancer-stricken father at Clarence House — their first face-to-face meeting in 19 months, which reportedly lasted over an hour.

Shortly after, Harry gave an interview in Ukraine with his Invictus Games Foundation team, telling The Guardian that his priority this year is to “focus on my dad.”

However, Seward told The Sun that the move was “a massive PR stunt,” arguing that Harry “needs the stardust of his father” to maintain public interest.

“I think it's a massive PR move to re-establish Harry in the hearts of the British people,” she said. “Harry needs the stardust of his father. He needs people to see him as the son of a king.

“His earning power is related to who he is. Without being the royal he is, Harry would not be of interest to anyone in California. But because he is the son of a king, and the brother of an heir to the throne, he is of great interest — and he needs that connection.”
