Duke of Sussex explores flexible plan for future role
Harry is looking for a way to keep the door open with the Palace, using what some see as a carefully thought-out approach.
On September 10, the Duke of Sussex met with his father, King Charles, at Clarence House. The meeting was described as an important step towards reconciliation, with Harry later expressing hope to rejoin the “functioning wider family” in some capacity. His comments suggested he would be open to taking on duties as a part-time working royal.
Emma Fabiani, who runs a popular Instagram page dedicated to Meghan Markle, shared her thoughts on the matter with Express. She explained that the idea of Harry returning in a part-time role is more of an interpretation than a fixed plan. “It is an intentionally flexible formula, useful to keep doors open without rigid commitments,” she said.
Even so, Charles has previously signalled that he, like his late mother Queen Elizabeth, is against an “in and out” arrangement for senior royals.
Looking at the road ahead, Emma suggested any reconciliation is more likely to unfold quietly than in public view. “I do not expect theatrical gestures. No balcony moments or staged photos: rather small, private steps, away from the spotlight, where people can really talk and listen,” she explained. “This is the kind of path I imagine and that many of my followers say they prefer: fewer symbols, more quiet actions.”
