Duke of Sussex believes his father’s support could mend ties with the British public
Prince Harry is reportedly hoping his father will offer more than just private reconciliation — he wants a public show of support to help restore his place within royal life. According to GB News, the Duke of Sussex hopes King Charles might one day urge the British public to welcome him back, marking what would be a major step in their fractured relationship.
This comes after Harry’s whirlwind four-day visit to the UK last week, during which he had his first face-to-face meeting with his father in 19 months at Clarence House. Though brief, the reunion appeared to signal a slight thaw in their strained bond. When asked about it afterwards at the Diana Awards, Harry described his father simply as “great.”
A source told the Daily Mail that Harry would like his father to one day publicly encourage the nation to accept him back, much like the late Queen Elizabeth II did when she called on the public to embrace Camilla as future Queen Consort.
Insiders say Harry is aware of how unpopular he has become in Britain and believes a gesture from the King could help rebuild trust. He reportedly keeps a close eye on his polling numbers and finds them troubling. According to YouGov’s August royal favourability tracker, just 28 percent of Britons currently view him positively, while 62 percent hold a negative opinion.
For Harry, a public nod of approval from his father could be the difference between remaining on the outside and making a genuine return to royal life.
