Insiders say William is unwilling to reconcile despite Harry’s surprise visit
Tensions between the brothers have reportedly deepened after Harry’s unexpected reunion with King Charles. According to the Daily Mail on September 14, the Prince of Wales, 43, is now “more determined than ever to cut Harry off altogether” following the meeting.
Harry, 40, met his father on September 10 at Clarence House for their first face-to-face in 19 months, sharing what was described as “a private tea” during his four-day trip to the UK. The meeting lasted less than an hour but stirred hopes of a reconciliation. Harry even called the encounter “great” when asked about it later that night at the Diana Awards.
However, insiders say William saw the visit as part of what he believes is a yearlong effort by Harry to win back favour with the monarchy. One source claimed, “William is back at the point where if you mention Harry in his presence, he would throw you out of the room.”
The brothers’ relationship has been strained since Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020, and worsened after Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare and his public accusations against the family. Palace aides now reportedly fear William’s anger could reopen old wounds just as the monarchy tries to move forward.
