Duke of Sussex says his “focus really has to be on my dad” as monarch battles cancer
Prince Harry has raised fresh concern over King Charles III’s health following their private meeting at Clarence House during his recent trip to the UK.
The Duke of Sussex returned for a series of engagements, but the highlight of his visit was a long-awaited reunion with his father, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Speaking to The Guardian, Harry reflected on the joy of reconnecting with the UK and its causes, saying, “I have always loved the UK and I always will love the UK. It’s been good to reconnect with the causes I am passionate about.”
He added, “I have been able to spend some time with people that I have known for so long. It is hard to do it from far away.”
Although Harry did not share details about the King’s treatment, he made it clear his attention is turning toward his father’s wellbeing, saying, “the focus really has to be on my dad” in the coming years. The comment has fuelled speculation about the severity of the 76-year-old monarch’s condition.
Reports have also suggested that Buckingham Palace is quietly preparing Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales for their eventual roles on the throne if the King’s health declines further.
