The Duke of Sussex steps up support for injured Ukrainian veterans
Prince Harry made an unannounced trip to Kyiv on Friday to show support for Ukrainians living with life-changing injuries from the war. During the visit, the Duke of Sussex revealed he is shifting his approach to provide stronger support for injured military personnel as they recover and rebuild their lives.
While he was in the country, the Invictus Games Foundation — where Harry serves as patron — announced new initiatives aimed at helping Ukrainian veterans. The organisation shared photos of Harry meeting veterans and their families on its official Instagram account, showing him alongside the Invictus team.
In the post, the foundation highlighted two major steps in its updated strategy:
Funding adaptive equipment to expand access for people with injuries across Ukraine
Launching a Train-the-Trainer adaptive snow sports programme with the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST) and Ukrainian Action
“Ukraine has been part of the Invictus community since 2017. Their resilience truly embodies the Invictus Spirit and we’re proud to stand alongside them,” the statement read.
Harry’s visit also comes as reports suggest he has eased tensions with his father, King Charles III, and is considering reconciling with other senior royals following a private reunion with the monarch.
