Expert claims Sussexes aim to position themselves as ‘alternative royals’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly sparked fresh tension for Prince William and Catherine following Harry’s recent visit to the United Kingdom.
The Duke of Sussex returned for a series of engagements, with the highlight being a private tea meeting with King Charles III at Clarence House. While the meeting was seen as a step toward healing their fractured relationship, it has also raised concerns about the Sussexes’ true intentions.
Royal commentator Richard Eden told Daily Mail that Harry and Meghan may be trying to win back favour with the King after their repeated public criticism of the monarchy. “I can understand a father wanting to meet his son. Who wouldn’t? The problem is, he is not just a father, he is our Head of State, and I think Harry and Meghan are bad news for the Royal Family,” Eden said.
He warned that the Sussexes could be positioning themselves as an “alternative Royal Family,” which could threaten William and Catherine’s standing. “We have seen time and time again that they can’t be trusted. They exploit their royal connections, and I don’t think it’s being paranoid to say that they want to be the alternative Royal Family,” he explained.
“They want to replace Prince William and Catherine as the principal royals, and they undermine them,” Eden added, cautioning that their return might not be as innocent as it seems.
