Duke and Duchess of York Join Family in Farewell to the Duchess of Kent
Princess Eugenie has spoken out following her parents’ appearance at the funeral of Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
The service, held on September 16 at Westminster Cathedral, brought together King Charles, Prince William, Catherine, and other senior royals. Queen Camilla, however, was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to acute sinusitis.
Among those who drew attention at the solemn event were Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who joined the family in paying their respects.
After the funeral, Eugenie shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. She reposted a tribute from King Charles’ office and added her own words: “Remembering The Duchess of Kent.”
Katharine, who passed away at 92, was laid to rest at the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, Windsor. She married the Duke of Kent, cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, in 1961, and together they had three children and ten grandchildren.
During her decades of service, the Duchess carried out numerous royal duties before stepping back in 2002 to focus on her private life and charitable work, particularly in the field of music.
