Sarah Ferguson’s Message Sparks Speculation After Harry’s Windsor Visit

Ferguson praises Rory McIlroy’s victory as Prince Harry pays tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Sarah Ferguson has drawn attention with a message celebrating a sporting triumph just hours after Harry quietly visited his grandmother’s grave on the third anniversary of her death.

The Duchess of York shared a photo on her Instagram Stories showing McIlroy celebrating his second title at the Irish Open, where he won a tense playoff against Joakim Lagergren. Alongside the photo, Ferguson wrote:

“To stay so composed under that level of pressure on home soil, and to then deliver that brilliant pull to secure victory, was truly inspiring and shows such mental strength. Another moment of brilliance in your illustrious career.”

While her words were clearly aimed at McIlroy, the tone of her message led some to wonder if she was also indirectly applauding Harry. He had earlier travelled to Windsor to lay flowers and pay his respects to the late monarch, a gesture seen by many as brave given the ongoing scrutiny he has faced since stepping away from royal duties in 2020.

Ferguson’s post came as British media speculated about whether Harry would meet King Charles III during his visit. If they do meet, it would mark their first private meeting in 19 months. For now, Harry has made no public comments, keeping his visit low-key as he honours his late grandmother’s memory.
