Buckingham Palace Shares King Charles’s New Step Toward a Modern Monarchy

The monarch’s latest podcast appearance highlights his commitment to conservation and connection with younger generations.

King Charles is taking another thoughtful step toward keeping the monarchy relevant for the future. Buckingham Palace recently announced that the King joined a special podcast episode to mark the 25th anniversary of the Millennium Seed Bank at Kew Gardens.

On October 25, the palace released a short clip from the episode, Unearthed: The Need for Seeds, across the royal family’s social media channels. The full podcast is now available on all major streaming platforms.

According to the royal family’s official website, Charles spoke with actress Cate Blanchett, Ambassador for Wakehurst, and Dr Elinor Breman, Senior Research Leader at Kew Gardens. Together, they discussed the world’s largest underground seed bank and its mission to protect diverse wild plant species.

In the conversation, the King voiced concern about the destruction of rainforests and the loss of species, noting that many plants likely have “remarkable properties, medical and everything else, without any concern.”

His appearance has drawn praise for showing both dedication and adaptability. Even while facing health challenges and family controversies, Charles continues to focus on service and sustainability.

The monarch also made history recently when he and the Pope prayed together during his visit to Vatican City — a gesture that symbolised unity, resilience, and the steady strength of his reign.
