Father and son attend pre-COP30 event, highlighting shared commitment to the planet
King Charles and the Prince of Wales made a rare joint outing on Thursday, October 9, attending a pre-COP30 event at London’s Natural History Museum. The evening brought together world leaders and environmental experts to discuss global efforts to combat climate change and protect biodiversity.
In a video shared by royal correspondent Rebecca English, the pair were seen arriving together in the same car, with the King stepping out first and William following, in keeping with royal protocol.
The joint engagement came just days after the release of William’s emotional interview on The Reluctant Traveler, where he reflected on the lessons he’s learned from his parents and the kind of father and future monarch he hopes to be.
Despite that personal revelation, Thursday’s event emphasised the strong bond between the King and his eldest son, particularly through their shared dedication to environmental causes. During the evening, they viewed photography from the Woodland Trust, met business leaders supporting reforestation projects, and explored exhibits showcasing British innovations tackling climate challenges.
Both men’s individual initiatives were also recognised. William’s upcoming six-part documentary, Guardians, was previewed, while an exhibition titled The Speeches: 50 Years of Speaking Up for the Planet celebrated Charles’s decades of advocacy for nature and sustainability.
Next month, the Prince of Wales will continue this work on the global stage, travelling to Brazil for the Earthshot Prize Awards before representing his father at the COP30 World Leaders Summit.
