King Charles Secretly Reunites with Former Aide Despite William and Camilla’s Concerns

Private Windsor Castle meeting reignites tensions over past scandal

King Charles III has quietly met with his former aide Michael Fawcett, ignoring warnings from both Prince William and Queen Camilla, according to a report by The Mail on Sunday on October 5.

The meeting took place inside Windsor Castle at an undisclosed time, marking the first face-to-face encounter between the King and Fawcett since 2021, when Fawcett resigned amid the cash-for-honours controversy. The reunion was reportedly kept under wraps, with Fawcett entering and leaving through a side door under tight discretion — described by one source as a “military-style operation.”

A Palace insider suggested the meeting may have been part of a formal farewell tradition for former staff. Others, however, see it as a personal reconciliation between Charles and a man once considered indispensable to him.

“His Majesty has never stopped feeling the loss of Michael being forced to resign,” a source told the outlet. “They’re kindred spirits. The King believes Michael was unfairly accused.”

The discreet meeting has reportedly unsettled both Prince William and Queen Camilla, who are said to have cautioned Charles that reconnecting with Fawcett could damage the monarchy’s image.

Fawcett, who worked for Charles for decades and rose from valet to a key aide, left his position in 2021 after claims surfaced that he offered to help a Saudi donor secure British citizenship and a knighthood in exchange for contributions to The Prince’s Foundation.

Although an investigation later found “serious management failures” during Fawcett’s tenure, he was cleared of personal wrongdoing. The watchdog concluded that while his leadership exposed the charity to risk, his actions did not amount to misconduct.

The King’s quiet reunion with his longtime confidant now risks reopening old wounds within the royal household — and raising new questions about loyalty and judgment at the top of the monarchy.
