The actor didn’t know he’d be filming with the future king until the cameras were rolling
When Eugene Levy flew to the UK to film an episode of his Apple TV+ travel show The Reluctant Traveler, he thought he was signing up for a standard shoot. What he didn’t expect was a personal invitation from Prince William himself.
“The only thing I knew was when I was on camera filming the episode and found out I got an invitation from him to come to Windsor Castle,” Levy told Town & Country. “I didn’t know he was gonna be on the show.”
What followed was a relaxed, unscripted day that took Levy far beyond the usual royal routine. Instead of a formal tour, he found himself sharing casual moments with the Prince of Wales—strolling through Windsor Castle, walking dogs, and even grabbing a pint at a pub.
At one point, William joked, “Was getting drunk in a Windsor pub with Prince William on your bucket list?” Levy could only laugh, later calling the experience “surreal.”
The episode stood out for its tone. William, often seen joking or upbeat during public appearances, came across here as thoughtful and reflective. Filmed back in February, during a difficult stretch in his life, the slower pace gave him space to open up in a natural way.
Levy’s gentle interviewing style helped too. Without the usual press pressure or time limits, their conversation flowed so easily that producers ended up cutting other planned segments to let it play out.
It turned what began as an ordinary travel shoot into something quietly revealing—an unguarded day between an actor and a future king.
