Prince Andrew Reportedly Agrees to Leave Royal Lodge After Assurance from King Charles

The Duke of York’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, are said to have received guarantees their royal homes will remain untouched

Prince Andrew has reportedly agreed to vacate Royal Lodge in Windsor — but only after receiving assurances from King Charles III about the security of his daughters’ royal futures.

According to palace sources, the Duke of York reached an understanding with his brother following weeks of private discussions over his long-term residence at the 30-room Grade II–listed property. The King is said to have promised that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will continue to be “looked after,” regardless of their parents’ relocation.

A royal insider told The Telegraph that Andrew accepted the plan to move out after being assured that his daughters’ tenancy arrangements at St James’s Palace and Kensington Palace would not be affected. Both royal sisters have reportedly been informed that they will not be asked to leave their residences.

Andrew, who has lived at Royal Lodge since 2003, has faced repeated calls to downsize amid growing pressure from Buckingham Palace to streamline royal finances and assets. The Duke, who occupies the property on a symbolic “peppercorn rent,” had previously resisted the move, citing his long-term lease.

Sources say that King Charles met privately with his brother last week to discuss the situation, with officials concluding that Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s eventual departure from the Windsor estate is now unavoidable.

The Palace’s assurances follow the King’s earlier confirmation that Beatrice and Eugenie will retain their titles as princesses, reflecting their continued status as granddaughters of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The development marks a significant step in Charles’s ongoing efforts to resolve lingering family matters while focusing on a leaner, modern royal household.
