Sources claim the Princess Royal believes Harry betrayed King Charles and Prince William
Princess Anne is said to have firmly distanced herself from any attempts to help her nephew, Prince Harry, return to the royal fold.
The Princess Royal, often described as the monarchy’s most reliable and hardworking member, has reportedly made it clear that she does not intend to get involved in Harry’s reconciliation efforts with King Charles and the rest of the family.
“Anne isn’t inclined to get involved in Harry’s issues. She feels it’s not her role,” a source told Radar. The insider added that the 75-year-old royal believes Harry made his own decision to step down and must now live with the consequences.
According to the report, Anne sees Harry as having “betrayed his father and brother” through his public criticisms of the monarchy. “She considers the issue finished,” the source said.
Anne has long been regarded as one of the monarchy’s most steadfast figures, serving as a key support to her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and playing a central role in King Charles’s coronation last year as Gold-Stick-in-Waiting — a ceremonial position symbolising her loyalty to the monarch.
Observers have noted that Anne, as a second-born royal herself, might have been an ideal person for Harry to seek guidance from, having carved out a respected role without being overshadowed by her elder brother.
However, her stance appears to underline the deep divide that still exists between the Duke of Sussex and the royal family.
Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, where they have continued to speak openly about their struggles within the monarchy. Their interviews and Harry’s memoir Spare have only strained relations further.
