The chef dismisses the idea of receiving a royal title from King Charles, calling it “appalling”
Queen Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, has shared his candid thoughts about the idea of ever receiving a royal title from his stepfather, King Charles — and his reaction was anything but serious.
During an appearance on the Good Food Podcast, the 50-year-old food writer and critic was asked whether he might be granted a title now that his mother is Queen. Tom brushed off the suggestion with humour, saying, “I tell you, that would be the quickest way to revolution.”
He continued, “I think we’re a fairly balanced and sensible country on the whole. But if I suddenly became a prince, I think Buckingham Palace gates would be stormed.”
Tom made it clear that he has no desire for a title, describing the idea as “appalling” and arguing that it would take the monarchy backward rather than forward. Instead, he expressed pride in simply being himself and keeping his own identity outside the royal system.
Despite his playful comments, Tom had warm words for King Charles, praising him as a “fountain of knowledge” and hinting at a respectful and close relationship between them.
Speculation has continued about whether the King might eventually honour his stepson in some way, especially as the number of working royals continues to shrink. For now, though, Tom Parker Bowles seems perfectly content to remain a commoner — and to keep his title strictly culinary.
