Reports claim tensions between Andrew and William worsened after alleged rude behaviour toward Catherine.
Prince Andrew is said to be facing one of the most difficult periods of his life, not only because of his past scandals but also due to his strained relationship with a key member of the royal family.
According to royal experts, Andrew’s behaviour toward Princess Catherine sparked long-standing resentment from Prince William. Commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital that Andrew’s jealousy over Catherine’s popularity and influence within the royal family led to disparaging remarks that infuriated the future king.
“Being fiercely protective, William set a zero-tolerance policy for any inappropriate behaviour or scandal involving his uncle,” Fordwich explained.
Royal author Richard Kay also reported ongoing tensions between the two, noting that William felt his father had been too lenient with Andrew, particularly in light of past controversies.
Andrew’s alleged rudeness toward Catherine is said to have deepened the rift. Author Andrew Lownie claimed in his 2024 book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York that the incident left William determined to distance his uncle from royal life, including efforts to remove him from Royal Lodge.
Once considered Queen Elizabeth II’s “golden boy,” Andrew’s standing within the royal family has crumbled. His resentment reportedly grew as his popularity declined and Catherine’s grace and prominence rose.
As ongoing revelations from books and memoirs continue to surface, the King’s younger brother remains under intense scrutiny and pressure within the royal household.
