Prince William and Catherine Voice Concerns Over Prince Andrew to King Charles

Future King and Queen support Charles’ move while urging compassion over Andrew’s mental health

Prince William and Catherine have reportedly shared their concerns with King Charles before he moved to strip Prince Andrew of his remaining royal privileges. According to The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English, the couple fully supported the King’s decision but raised several important points for consideration.

Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday that “a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew” had begun, confirming that he will now be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The palace also ordered him to surrender the lease on Royal Lodge, his long-time residence in Windsor.

William and Catherine, who recently moved nearby, were said to have told the King that Andrew’s continued presence at Royal Lodge would leave the estate “forever tainted” due to his past associations and the serious allegations surrounding him. Andrew, once close to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, has faced widespread criticism and legal scrutiny over his alleged conduct.

Despite their firm stance on maintaining the monarchy’s integrity, the couple reportedly voiced concern for Andrew’s mental wellbeing. Known for their long-term commitment to mental health causes, William and Catherine urged the King to weigh the potential emotional toll of his decision.

“There were serious fears about his mental health, which had to be balanced against the need to act decisively,” English reported.

In the end, William made clear that he fully supports his father’s decision, prioritising the reputation and stability of the royal family.
