Future Queen Catherine shares candid moment with Jessie J at Royal Variety Show
Catherine, the Princess of Wales, reflected on the shock of her cancer diagnosis during her latest joint outing with William in London. The couple attended the Royal Variety Show, where Catherine wore a floor-length velvet gown and William chose a classic three-piece suit.
They enjoyed the performances and spent time meeting artists backstage. One exchange in particular drew attention. Singer Jessie J told Catherine, “I just had breast cancer,” before adding that she felt compelled to offer a hug because cancer “puts life into perspective.”
The two shared a quiet moment, speaking about the initial shock that comes with such a diagnosis. Like Catherine, Jessie has been open about her own health, reminding others that discussing illness is nothing to fear.
Jessie later said that meeting the future Queen felt meaningful. “Mum to mum, who has just recently gone through cancer, I just wanted to give her a hug,” she said. She added that they both recognised how difficult it is to cope with illness, especially when living so much of life in the public eye.
