King Charles unveils the Royal Family’s Christmas card for 2026

The monarch shares a holiday greeting captured during an earlier visit to Italy

King Charles has revealed Buckingham Palace’s official Christmas card for 2026, and this year’s design carries a thoughtful link to an important trip. The photograph was taken at Villa Wolkonsky in Rome during Their Majesties’ State Visit to the Republic of Italy in April.

The update was shared on 7 December, just as the holiday season begins to build. The image shows the King and Queen standing hand in hand in a leafy garden, dressed in matching navy and white. The card includes a simple seasonal message that reads, “Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”

Christmas for the royal family is traditionally held at Sandringham House, the monarch’s private estate in Norfolk. The celebrations usually include services at St Mary Magdalene Church and light-hearted gift exchanges that follow one rule, which is to keep the presents humorous.
