Meghan Markle gives up hope of reconciling with her father

Duchess reportedly has no plans to see Thomas Markle despite recent outreach

Meghan Markle has reportedly accepted that a reconciliation with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, is unlikely, according to a new report shared by a royal expert.

Roya Nikkhah, writing on X while referencing The Times, said the Duchess of Sussex has no plans to see her father and has given up hope of repairing their relationship. She also claimed Meghan has not received any response to a letter that was delivered to Thomas Markle while he was in hospital earlier this week.

According to the report, the letter set out Meghan’s feelings about her father’s decision to give multiple media interviews discussing their private relationship. Nikkhah added that Meghan believes his continued engagement with the media played a major role in the breakdown between them.

The claims come shortly after reports emerged that Meghan had reached out to Thomas Markle following his hospitalisation in the Philippines, where he is said to have undergone a leg amputation. While she reportedly wrote to him, The Times noted that Meghan has no intention of visiting in person.

It was also suggested that Meghan avoided calling her father out of concern that the conversation could be overheard or reported.

Earlier this week, Meghan’s spokesperson confirmed the letter had been delivered, saying: “With the support of reliable and trusted contacts, her correspondence is now safely in his hands.”

The spokesperson also criticised the presence of a journalist at Thomas Markle’s bedside, stating that constant reporting made it extremely difficult for Meghan to communicate with her father privately, despite repeated attempts to do so in recent days.
