The Duke of Sussex has reportedly decided to get directly involved in the long running issues between Meghan Markle and her father, Thomas Markle, after the situation left his wife emotionally drained.
According to a well placed insider, Harry believes the ongoing drama has been deeply unfair to Meghan, particularly given the level of online criticism she continues to face. The source claims he feels strongly protective of his wife and the mother of his children, and no longer wants to stay on the sidelines.
A friend of the couple says Meghan’s preference for choosing safety over risk is about protecting her own wellbeing. The source adds that she has already endured intense public backlash and is wary of anything that could spark another wave of negative attention.
Speaking to Woman’s Day, the insider said Harry is struggling with the constant criticism aimed at Meghan. While he continues to fully support her, a recent security review has reportedly reopened the possibility of reconnecting with his family in Britain.
The friend also noted what they described as striking similarities between Harry and Meghan’s strained relationships with their respective fathers. This, they claim, has prompted Harry to believe it is time to move towards reconciliation, a view Meghan is now said to be warming to as well.
