Speculation that Prince William will one day remove royal titles from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle continues to circulate, but one royal expert believes that idea misses the point of who William is and how he thinks.
Speaking to the Mirror, royal commentator Afua Acheampong-Hagan dismissed claims that the Prince of Wales would prioritise such a move when he becomes King. According to her, focusing on his brother and sister-in-law would only distract from far more important responsibilities.
She argued that William is not driven by personal grudges and understands how such an action would be received by the public. Removing titles, she said, would do little more than make him appear petty.
Acheampong-Hagan explained that it is unlikely William would want the early focus of his reign to be framed around punishing his own brother. In her view, it would raise an obvious question: what would actually be gained from it?
She added that the Royal Family faces much bigger challenges, particularly around modernisation. Stripping titles from family members simply for choosing a different life path, she said, would look unnecessary and small-minded.
Ultimately, the expert believes William is fully aware of how damaging such a move could be to his image. Even amid constant rumours, she remains convinced that he would avoid doing anything that could make him seem vindictive rather than forward-looking.
