Reports suggest the Queen may be struggling to accept the Princess of Wales’ growing authority within the monarchy
Queen Camilla has stepped away from a major public role, fuelling renewed speculation about an alleged rift with the Princess of Wales, Catherine.
In a joint social media update, the Royal Voluntary Service and the Palace confirmed that Camilla will not take part in this year’s Festive Spread event. The annual gathering celebrates volunteers who provide support, companionship and care during the holiday season.
Sharing a photo from last year’s event, the charity recalled Camilla’s previous involvement and posted her message of thanks. In it, she praised volunteers for their work and said the country would “collapse” without their contribution.
The Royal Voluntary Service also announced that this year’s festive baton, including the traditional brandy pouring, will be passed to Rosemary Shrager with support from the Morrisons Foundation.
The timing of Camilla’s withdrawal has drawn attention, coming amid reports of strain between her and Catherine. According to sources quoted by Closer, Camilla remains polite and professional in public but is more open about her feelings behind the scenes.
One insider warned that the situation could become increasingly difficult for the Queen, noting that Catherine is destined to become Queen one day. The source claimed Camilla may eventually find herself isolated, with her influence and privileges largely dependent on the future Princess of Wales.
While no official comment has been made on the rumours, Camilla’s decision to step back from the high profile event has added to ongoing speculation about shifting power dynamics within the royal family.
