Speculation online leaves the Prince and Princess of Wales pushing back as they prepare to mark 15 years together
Catherine and Prince William are said to be frustrated by fresh rumours questioning the state of their marriage, as the couple prepare to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary in April.
According to a report in New Idea, the past few weeks have been challenging for the future king and queen, largely due to online speculation sparked by a recent sighting involving William and their children.
Earlier this month, a video shared on X showed William arriving by helicopter at Kensington Palace with the children, all carrying overnight bags. The clip quickly prompted unfounded claims on social media, with some users suggesting it resembled a “parental handover” and questioning whether the couple had separated.
The rumours intensified when William did not post a public birthday message for Catherine on January 9. Last year, he had marked the occasion with a warm tribute, describing her as “an incredible wife and mother”, leading some to read significance into the silence.
A well-placed insider, however, dismissed the speculation outright. “Nothing could be further from the truth,” the source told the magazine. While acknowledging that the couple have faced pressures, including Catherine’s ongoing recovery and the demands of raising three children, the insider stressed that the whispers of marital trouble are exaggerated.
“They’re annoyed by the claims,” the confidant added, urging the public not to overanalyse brief moments or social media absences. As April approaches, the couple are expected to focus on family life and their anniversary rather than the noise surrounding them.
