‘Disgraced’ Andrew Sparks Fresh Headaches for King Charles and Prince William

Censored records and old scandals renew scrutiny on the monarchy

“Disgraced” Prince Andrew has landed the royal family with another awkward problem, placing new pressure on King Charles III and Prince William, according to new reports.

The latest controversy centres on official documents linked to Andrew’s overseas trips during his time as a trade envoy in the mid-2000s. Parts of those records were reportedly removed before being released to the public, raising fresh questions for the Palace.

According to The Express, key details were censored from files recently transferred to the National Archives. The redactions have sparked criticism and renewed calls for transparency around Andrew’s activities.

Royal commentator Rupert Bell said the issue should prompt serious reflection at the top. He argued that Charles and William need to closely review royal finances and ensure everything is being handled within the law, stressing that the royal household should not be treated differently from anyone else.

“The Royal Family should not be above the law,” he said, adding that any doubts must be addressed clearly and openly.

The Andrew saga has also been described by other commentators as one of the most damaging chapters the monarchy has faced in modern times. Speaking on **The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, royal watchers Simon Vigar and Ailsa Anderson discussed how the controversy continues to hang over the institution.

“I think it’s number one,” Anderson said, pointing to how long the story has lingered. “This has been around for 15 years.”

Vigar added that the multimillion-pound settlement, involving a woman Andrew has said he never met, only deepened the damage. “It’s dragged on for so long,” he said. “When you have something that disgraceful so close to the crown, it becomes an existential threat to the monarchy.”

For Charles and William, the renewed focus on Andrew is another reminder that unresolved issues from the past can still create serious problems in the present.
