Royal estate issues update after weather warning in Scotland
Balmoral Castle has been closed to visitors after severe winter weather prompted an official warning in the area.
In a message shared on the estate’s social media pages, the royal team confirmed the site would not be open on Friday due to ongoing weather conditions. A follow-up update said the castle would also remain closed on Saturday, with plans to reopen on Sunday at 11am if conditions improve.
The announcement comes as parts of Scotland continue to experience extreme winter weather, leading to safety concerns for visitors and staff.
While Balmoral remains shut, the King is understood to be staying at Sandringham House, where conditions are more settled, according to GB News.
Over the Christmas period, the King and Queen Camilla were seen attending church in Sandringham alongside senior members of the Royal Family, greeting well-wishers in clear but chilly winter weather.
