Scottish royal residence stays off limits as winter conditions continue
Balmoral Castle, Balmoral Castle, will remain closed to the public on Sunday following ongoing winter weather disruption, according to a new statement from the estate.
The update came after the castle was already shut on Friday and Saturday due to adverse conditions and an active weather warning. A notice issued earlier said the estate would not open because of the severe winter weather affecting the area.
On Saturday, Balmoral confirmed the closure would extend into Sunday, adding that all deposits for Sunday lunch bookings would be fully refunded. Visitors have been advised to check the castle’s official website and its Facebook and Instagram pages for the latest opening information.
King Charles III is currently staying at Sandringham in Norfolk, where weather conditions are more settled compared with Scotland.
The King and Queen Camilla were last seen publicly on Christmas Day, when they led senior members of the Royal Family to church in Sandringham, greeting well-wishers in clear but cold winter weather.
