Insiders say British press scrutiny is her biggest concern ahead of possible visit
Meghan Markle is reportedly reluctant to return to the UK because she believes the media climate there remains deeply hostile toward her.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to be considering joining Harry for an event connected to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. However, sources claim the idea of stepping back into the British spotlight is causing her serious anxiety.
Speaking to Radar Online, friends of Meghan said she worries that every comment she makes and every outfit she wears would be closely analysed, turning the visit into an emotionally exhausting experience.
A former palace insider explained, “She feels the UK is a place where she is judged without pause. In her mind, every word she speaks and every outfit she wears would be picked apart in minute detail, and she finds the prospect of facing that level of hostility deeply intimidating.”
Another source compared her life in California to what she expects in Britain. They said Meghan feels she has created a safer, more controlled environment in the US, where she can limit exposure and protect herself from constant criticism.
“In California she feels she has carved out a space where she can manage her environment and protect herself,” the insider said. “Going back to the UK would mean handing that sense of control back to a media culture she believes is unpredictable and fundamentally hostile toward her.”
For now, Meghan is said to be weighing her options carefully, aware that any return to Britain would place her back under the intense scrutiny she has tried to leave behind.
