Meghan Markle torn between supporting Harry and facing UK scrutiny

Meghan Markle is reportedly conflicted about whether to return to the UK to support Harry at an event linked to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.

Sources say Meghan wants to be there for her husband but is anxious about the level of attention and criticism she could face if she steps back into the spotlight in Britain.

Since leaving royal duties, the Duchess of Sussex has only returned to the UK once, for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. Harry, meanwhile, has continued to travel alone for major events and court appearances.

Friends of Meghan told Radar Online that past visits left her feeling the focus quickly shifted away from the reason she was there and onto her personally.

“On previous visits, she felt the attention moved away from the purpose of her trip and turned into personal criticism,” a source said.

They added that this is something Meghan is determined to avoid repeating. “That pattern of having her character questioned instead of her work being recognised is exactly what she doesn’t want to go through again.”

According to the insider, Meghan knows how important the Invictus Games are to Harry and wants to support him publicly.

“Meghan fully understands what Invictus means to Harry and wants to stand by him,” the source said. “At the same time, the emotional weight of returning to a place she associates with hostility makes the decision incredibly difficult.”
