Staff describe a quiet routine focused on TV, gaming and comfort as the Duke readies his move on King Charles’ orders
Palace insiders say life looks much the same for Prince Andrew, even as he prepares to vacate Royal Lodge following direction from King Charles. Despite losing his royal titles and public role, aides claim the so-called “disgraced” royal has shown little sign of changing his day-to-day habits.
According to staff who spoke to Radar Online, Andrew’s main concern during the move has not been downsizing or adjusting to a new chapter, but ensuring his new home is fitted with premium television services and high-speed broadband. The 65-year-old is said to spend much of his time alone watching TV, playing video games and tracking aircraft movements, a routine that has earned him an unflattering reputation among those around him.
One aide described him as a “couch potato” who still expects to be looked after, despite his fall from favour. “Of all the things he could have prioritised during this move, it was premium TV and broadband,” the source said. “That speaks volumes about his mindset. People joke that it’s his substitute for a social life.”
Andrew is reportedly preparing to relocate to Marsh Farm, a quieter property near Sandringham. Palace sources say the home is being readied at speed, with security upgrades already underway. A drone no-fly zone around the area has also been expanded ahead of his arrival.
“There is a sense that nothing has really changed for him internally,” another insider claimed. “He may have lost titles and status, but he still expects to be catered to. He has become a total couch potato, slumped in front of his wide-screen TV and playing video games.”
Local observers echoed that view, noting how quickly preparations are being pushed through. “It’s not being turned into a palace, but it has to be secure and fully functional,” one said. “The irony is that the most talked-about feature isn’t the security. It’s the television setup.”
For palace staff, the message seems clear. While Andrew’s official standing has shifted dramatically, those closest to the situation say his lifestyle, and expectations, remain largely unchanged.
