Prince William is said to be increasingly frustrated by Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest moves, which he reportedly views as a threat to the monarchy’s image.
A new report claims the Prince of Wales believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to rely on their royal status, despite stepping back from official duties in 2020. Their plans to resume high-profile overseas trips in 2026 and 2027 have, according to insiders, reignited tensions between the brothers.
A source told OK! Magazine that William was already unhappy with the couple’s previous “quasi-royal tours” to Nigeria and Colombia. Those visits, which looked and felt official to many observers, are said to have left a lasting impression within his inner circle.
More recently, Harry and Meghan reportedly sent a letter to Australian psychologist Angela Pearl using their crowned monogram. The message, which later became public, thanked her for taking part in an unspecified event and hinted at a possible return to Australia. That detail is said to have further increased William’s irritation.
“Harry and Meghan have begun speaking quite freely about returning to Australia, framing it as something they still need to complete or reclaim,” the insider claimed.
Within William’s camp, that language is viewed as troubling. To him, it suggests the couple are still positioning themselves in a royal-style role they once chose to leave behind.
“For William, the real issue is how it all looks,” the source explained. “Any visit would almost certainly be staged and received with the trappings of officialdom, regardless of the reality of Harry and Meghan’s status.”
He reportedly believes this creates confusion for the public and slowly undermines the authority of the institution he is working to protect. As the future king, William is said to see clarity around royal roles as essential, and any blurred lines only add to his growing concern.
