Sarah Ferguson was reportedly uneasy about Andrew’s growing ties to Jeffrey Epstein and worried the friendship could lead to serious trouble. According to royal author Andrew Lownie, she viewed the relationship as dangerous and felt it was slipping beyond her influence.
Lownie wrote that Ferguson and others close to Andrew believed his links with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell had become a serious risk. He added that Ferguson felt jealous because she thought she had lost her hold over her former husband’s decisions.
She was also said to be increasingly concerned about the people Andrew was spending time with and how this reflected on her, particularly in the United States where she had business interests. Insiders claimed Epstein was exploiting Andrew’s status for access and prestige.
One source said Andrew was too trusting to see what was happening, adding that he did not realise those around him had hidden agendas.
