Why Harry Will Not See King Charles During UK Visit

Royal sources say a reunion is off the table as the Duke of Sussex returns to Britain for legal matters

King Charles and Harry are not expected to meet when the Duke of Sussex travels to the UK later this month. The claim comes from royal commentator Rob Shuter, who wrote in his Substack that a meeting during the visit is “extremely unlikely.”

According to Shuter, Harry’s trip is centred on his ongoing court case against Associated Newspapers Limited, and even his legal timetable remains unsettled. Insiders say there are no firm trial dates in place, leaving little room for anything beyond court appearances and meetings with lawyers.

One source put it bluntly. King Charles III “is in complete control. If he wanted a father and son reunion, it would happen. There’s just no desire on either side right now.” Another confidant echoed that view, saying Harry’s schedule is tight, but that is not the real issue. “It’s a mutual choice. A sit down simply isn’t on the cards.”

Harry last saw the King for a private tea in September 2025. The brief meeting, said to last about an hour, included Harry sharing photos of his children. A source noted that while the Duke wants his children to feel connected to their heritage, this visit is different in tone. “Right now it’s strictly transactional. Court, lawyers, nothing else.”

Shuter also touched on Harry’s security arrangements. Although the Duke has regained eligibility for official police protection in the UK, insiders stress that only the logistics have softened. The underlying tension, they say, has not.
