Prince Andrew is once again under fire, this time over claims that he appears more concerned with his personal circumstances than with the damage caused by years of controversy.
The disgraced royal has reportedly moved into Wood Farm, a modest property on the Sandringham estate, after being pushed further from public life. According to critics, there is little sign of reflection or regret over his past friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which continues to cast a long shadow over the monarchy.
Royal author Robert Hardman told the Daily Mail that Andrew has never appeared deeply troubled by the scandal.
He said the Duke “hardly seemed bothered about the Epstein scandal” and suggested that, regardless of the outcome of current police assessments, Andrew’s lack of remorse has had lasting consequences. Hardman added that this attitude has ensured King Charles is not done dealing with his younger brother.
The criticism was echoed by royal commentator Kevin Maguire, who questioned how much senior royals knew over the years. Speaking to the Mirror, Maguire asked what Charles, Prince William, and the late Elizabeth II understood about Andrew’s alleged behaviour, financial dealings, and associations.
Maguire argued that public opinion had turned against Andrew long ago, yet he continued to receive housing and financial support from his family. He also pointed to reports that Andrew was loaned millions of pounds to avoid a legal battle in the United States, a decision that continues to raise uncomfortable questions about accountability at the highest levels of the Royal Family.
Together, the comments paint a picture of a royal whose apparent indifference has only deepened the strain on an institution already struggling to move past repeated scandals.
