Meghan Markle is said to have stepped in after Prince Harry appeared open to rebuilding ties with his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
According to recent reports, Andrew had hoped to reconnect with the Duke of Sussex before his arrest. Insiders claim he felt a sense of shared experience with Harry, believing both had been pushed aside within the royal family.
One source alleged that Andrew saw Harry as a possible ally. In his view, they were both “spares” who had been treated unfairly and left feeling isolated. Although the two were never especially close, Andrew reportedly thought that common ground or even a private meeting could open the door to a renewed relationship.
The same insider claimed Andrew struggles with how events have unfolded within the family and believes Harry has faced similar treatment. From his perspective, that shared sense of grievance could have brought them closer.
However, any chance of that happening appears slim. Sources say Meghan was firmly against the idea. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly made it clear she did not want Andrew involved in their personal lives or professional world.
While Prince Harry may have been willing to at least listen, Meghan Markle is said to view any association with Andrew as damaging. According to insiders, she is focused on protecting their reputation and the direction they have built since stepping back from royal duties.
Neither Harry nor Meghan has addressed the claims publicly. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has also remained silent.
For now, the reports suggest that even if there was an opportunity for reconciliation, it has been firmly closed.
