Piers Morgan Calls on King Charles to Act After Andrew Arrest as Palace Issues Statement

Outspoken broadcaster Piers Morgan has publicly urged King Charles to remove his brother Andrew from the royal line of succession following the former Duke of York’s arrest.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Morgan shared the official royal line of succession and highlighted the fact that Andrew still sits eighth in line to the throne. He questioned how Andrew remains in that position, calling it “absolutely ridiculous” and saying the King should act “as soon as possible” to remove him.

Andrew, the father of Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice and the younger brother of the King, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was later released from police custody on Thursday evening after a full day of questioning by detectives from Thames Valley Police.

The investigation relates to allegations that Andrew passed confidential government documents to Jeffrey Epstein while serving as a trade envoy. Earlier this month, police confirmed they were examining claims connected to his past official role. Andrew, who turned 66 on Thursday, has not been charged at this stage.

Following the arrest, the Palace issued a statement on behalf of the King. In it, the monarch said he had learned of the situation with “the deepest concern” and stressed that the matter must now be handled through a full and proper legal process. He added that the authorities would receive the Palace’s full cooperation and made clear that the law must take its course.

The statement marks the most direct response yet from the monarch as public pressure continues to build over Andrew’s position within the royal structure.
