Prince William and Catherine settle on a direction for Prince George’s next school

Couple reportedly leaning away from Eton as key decision nears

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales are said to be closing in on a decision about where Prince George will attend secondary school later this year.

For a long time, Eton College was seen as the likely choice, following in William’s footsteps. But sources told The Express that the Prince and Princess of Wales are now considering a different option and may be moving in another direction.

According to those close to the situation, Marlborough College has emerged as the strongest contender. The couple are believed to have spent months reviewing schools and weighing up factors such as the atmosphere, levels of privacy and long-term security.

“While Eton would be the obvious choice because it is nearby and where William went, they are leaning towards other schools,” a source said.

“I’m hearing Marlborough is the front-runner,” the insider added. “I genuinely don’t think they have one hundred percent decided yet, but there is talk among the Marlborough set that a house has been allocated for George and that security has been a major issue.”

Royal commentator Ingrid Seward also spoke about the matter, telling Vanity Fair that any announcement is likely to come late in the summer.

“I expect we will be told at the very last minute, once the security detail has been organised,” she said. “It is clearly an important consideration. It will require two protection officers taking turns to look after George while he is at school.”
