Princess Diana Warned William and Harry to Be Wary of Uncle Andrew

Princess Diana reportedly cautioned her sons, Prince William and Harry, about their uncle, the former Duke of York, Andrew, in the years before her death.

According to royal insiders, the late Princess became uneasy about Andrew during her marriage to King Charles and urged her sons to keep their distance. A source told Woman’s Day that Andrew appeared “insanely jealous” of William and Harry’s father, a trait Diana noticed early on and never ignored.

The insider claimed Diana’s advice later proved to be some of the best guidance she ever gave her sons, encouraging them to stay cautious around their uncle.

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie echoed those concerns in his book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, writing that Diana was wary of Andrew from the outset. He quoted her describing him as loud and unpredictable, noting that his behaviour often shifted without warning.

“She felt something was troubling him,” Lownie wrote, adding that Andrew could be polite one moment and aggressive the next. Diana reportedly compared his temperament to that of his father, citing a short fuse and a sharp, sometimes abrasive sense of humour.

The renewed claims surfaced shortly after William and Catherine issued a statement through their spokesperson expressing deep concern over the ongoing revelations linked to the Epstein scandal. The Prince and Princess of Wales also reaffirmed their support for victims affected by the case involving Andrew.
