Reality star opens up about lack of control and pressure behind Khloé & Lamar
Khloé Kardashian has opened up about the pressure she faced while filming her reality series with ex-husband Lamar Odom, admitting she felt overwhelmed and had little say in the project.
In the new docuseries Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, the mother-of-two revealed that the spin-off show Khloé & Lamar was largely driven by the former NBA star. According to Khloé, the idea was never hers to begin with.
“Khloé & Lamar was not my idea,” she said. “It was led very much by Lamar.”
Odom, reflecting on the time, shared that he was drawn to the Kardashian lifestyle early on. “Now I’m already Lamar Odom, and I’m just watching how she lives and their lifestyle. I’m like, ‘I know this is where I wanna be. This is how I wanna live,’” he explained.
He also admitted that the combination of fame from his basketball career and the Kardashian brand created a sense of power he wasn’t prepared for. “It felt like a power trip… but I wasn’t really ready for all that power,” he confessed.
Khloé, meanwhile, described feeling stretched in multiple directions at the time. She was concerned about maintaining the family’s main show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and didn’t want the spin-off to affect its success.
“I was spread really thin,” she said. “I also didn’t want it to jeopardise the family brand… I thought there were already so many Kardashian shows.”
Her comments offer a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges of balancing personal relationships, business decisions, and the demands of reality television at the height of the Kardashian empire.
