Royal insiders say tensions have deepened, with little hope of reconciliation
King Charles III and his younger brother Prince Andrew are said to be more divided than ever, with royal insiders claiming their relationship has reached its lowest point.
Recent reports suggest the situation escalated after the King publicly offered full support and cooperation to authorities investigating Andrew over alleged misconduct in public office. That move is believed to have widened an already fragile divide between the two.
According to royal commentators, the fallout is now so severe that the brothers may no longer appear together at public or even private family gatherings, including traditional events like Christmas at Sandringham.
Royal expert Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, believes the damage runs deep. He suggests the relationship may be beyond repair, adding that it is increasingly unlikely the two will share any future public moments.
Lownie also points out that tensions between Charles and Andrew did not begin recently. According to him, long-standing rivalry and resentment have shaped their dynamic for decades. Andrew reportedly believed he could have taken on a greater role, while Charles is said to have felt his younger brother was given freedoms he himself did not enjoy.
One key moment often cited is the Falklands War, during which Andrew served in active missions while Charles was kept from frontline naval duties. That contrast is said to have deepened underlying frustrations.
Sources further claim Andrew feels betrayed, believing his brother has prioritised protecting the monarchy over family loyalty. With emotions still running high, insiders say the chances of reconciliation appear increasingly slim.
