Buckingham Palace shares glimpse of monarch’s latest audience with Mark Carney
King Charles held a private audience with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney at Buckingham Palace, offering a rare look inside the meeting through an official social media post.
A photograph shared on the royal family’s Instagram account captured the King greeting Carney with a handshake inside the palace. The caption noted, “This afternoon, The King held an Audience with the Prime Minister of Canada, @MarkJCarney.”
The visit had not been publicly announced in advance, adding a layer of discretion to the engagement.
The meeting comes nearly a year after the monarch travelled to Canada to deliver the Speech from the Throne, opening the first session of the country’s 45th Parliament.
It also follows recent remarks by Carney, who voiced support for removing the King’s brother, Andrew, from the line of succession.
