Insiders suggest tensions could extend even to future royal ceremonies
King Charles is said to be increasingly frustrated with his younger brother, Andrew, as their relationship reaches a reported low point.
According to insiders, the King remains deeply disappointed over Andrew’s past association with Jeffrey Epstein. The issue is believed to have caused a lasting strain between the two, with reports suggesting contact has been significantly reduced in recent years.
Royal commentator Robert Lacey, citing a source close to the monarch, claims that a serious conversation took place more than a decade ago. During that exchange, Andrew reportedly gave firm assurances that he had done nothing wrong, but the situation has continued to cast a shadow.
Those close to Andrew acknowledge the seriousness of the controversy, noting that his connection to Epstein brought harm and should never have happened. At the same time, some sources have questioned how the situation has been handled within the family, pointing out that personal relationships remain complicated despite public scrutiny.
The divide is now said to be so pronounced that one insider suggested Andrew may not even attend the King’s future funeral, highlighting just how far relations may have deteriorated.
Tensions between the brothers are not entirely new. Reports indicate Charles had long harboured doubts about Andrew’s suitability for certain royal roles, particularly when he took on diplomatic duties after his naval career. At the time, however, the late Queen is said to have supported Andrew’s appointment.
Now, with years of controversy and disagreement behind them, the King is believed to feel his earlier concerns have been validated, further widening the gap between the two brothers.
