Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly want stronger oversight to protect the monarchy’s reputation
Prince William and Catherine are said to be considering significant changes within the royal household following the latest controversy linked to Prince Andrew.
According to insiders, the Prince and Princess of Wales believe the monarchy must take a more proactive approach to avoid future scandals that could damage the institution’s credibility. The couple are reportedly determined to ensure that similar crises do not threaten the royal family again.
A source told Radar Online that William is increasingly aware of how repeated controversies shape public perception of the monarchy.
“William is very conscious that every new headline adds to the narrative surrounding the royal family, and he worries about the long-term impact that could have on how the institution is viewed,” the insider said.
With Catherine’s support, the future king is reportedly ready to take a tougher stance, including reviewing past issues involving senior royals to identify potential risks before they escalate.
“With the backing of Catherine, he is prepared to push for a deeper examination of past controversies to root out any problems early and deal with them before they grow into bigger scandals,” the source added. “That approach could put him on a collision course with some senior members of the family.”
The insider also noted that William feels the weight of responsibility as the future monarch, particularly when fresh controversies surface.
“William understands that the duty of safeguarding the institution will eventually fall directly to him, and that reality is always on his mind whenever another issue emerges,” the source explained.
The scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein, which drew widespread attention to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, is reportedly seen by William as a serious threat to the monarchy’s standing.
“From his perspective, every controversy chips away at the monarchy’s reputation,” the source said. “He fears that repeated crises could weaken public confidence in the institution he will one day lead.”
Catherine is also believed to support a more modern approach to handling controversy.
According to the source, she feels the traditional strategy of remaining silent and waiting for public attention to fade is no longer effective in today’s fast-moving media environment.
Instead, she reportedly believes the royal family must respond with clearer leadership and adapt to the pace of modern scrutiny if it wants to maintain public trust.
