Future king reportedly unmoved by reconciliation attempts as tensions within the Royal Family continue
Prince William is believed to have little appetite for repairing his fractured relationship with his younger brother, Harry, following years of public criticism directed at the Royal Family.
Reports suggest the Prince of Wales has no intention of accepting what some see as an olive branch from Harry, whose outspoken remarks about the institution have deepened the divide. The future king is also said to be uneasy about Harry’s continued quasi-royal appearances abroad, including a recently announced visit to Australia.
Royal commentator Richard Palmer told i that reconciliation between the brothers still appears distant. According to him, communication between the couples has effectively stalled.
“Even worse, the chances of reconciliation with the Prince and Princess of Wales look as far away as ever,” Palmer explained. “The two brothers and their wives are still not thought to be speaking and William has moved on, according to some inside his circle.”
Palmer suggested that, with time, those involved in the dispute may privately acknowledge mistakes on all sides. However, he noted that resentment within the Royal Household remains strong.
“There is little forgiveness inside the Royal Household for what is generally regarded as Harry and Meghan Markle’s public criticism and betrayal of the institution,” he said.
The expert also pointed out that the fallout surrounding Prince Andrew created space for Harry and Meghan Markle to attempt a fresh start. At the same time, it reinforced the family’s belief that Queen Elizabeth II was right to reject the couple’s proposal to combine official royal duties with commercial ventures.
Instead, the pair chose to carve out their own path outside the monarchy. Despite speculation about setbacks such as staff turnover, the end of deals with Netflix and Spotify, and cutbacks within their charitable operations, the couple are still understood to be living comfortably.
They remain based in a nine-bedroom home worth around $14.65 million in Montecito, a wealthy enclave in Montecito, where they continue to pursue their independent projects.
