Future King Chooses Hands-On Parenting and Everyday Routine to Set a Different Royal Tone
Prince William is choosing a more grounded approach to royal life, keeping household staff to a minimum and taking an active role in daily family responsibilities.
The Prince of Wales is known for sharing everyday duties with Catherine, including managing household chores and caring for their children without relying heavily on assistance.
Former royal butler Grant Harrold, speaking to Select Car Leasing, explained that the couple prefer a more independent lifestyle. He noted that their home operates with very limited staff, giving their routine a more ordinary feel compared to older generations of the Royal Family.
One clear example is the school run, which William and Catherine consider an important part of their children’s routine. Rather than delegating the task, they choose to handle it themselves.
Harrold also suggested that William is mindful of the image he presents as a future monarch. He believes William would rather not have his children seen being driven by a chauffeur, as it does not reflect the modern and relatable image he wants to project.
He added that driving has long been something royals enjoy. Even the King, he recalled, often preferred to drive himself unless attending official engagements, where a chauffeur-driven car was necessary.
