Princess Eugenie Faces Backlash After Quietly Leaving Anti-Slavery Charity

Critics claim the move came too late as scrutiny around her father continues

Princess Eugenie has stepped down from her role as patron of Anti-Slavery International, ending a seven-year association with the charity as renewed attention surrounds her father, Prince Andrew.

The Princess of York quietly concluded her patronage with the organisation, a decision that has sparked criticism in some circles. Commentators have claimed the move was overdue given the continued controversy linked to Andrew.

According to a source speaking to Radar Online, some critics have mocked the timing of Eugenie’s exit, saying she has only “finally done the right thing” by leaving the anti-slavery charity while the scandal tied to Andrew continues to dominate headlines.

The insider noted that although there are no allegations against Eugenie herself, her association with an organisation focused on ending slavery had become increasingly awkward due to the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding her father.

“Even though there is absolutely no allegation against Eugenie, the connection to an anti-slavery group has turned into uncomfortable territory while the Andrew situation remains unresolved,” the source said.

They added that stepping away from the role appeared to be the most practical way to prevent further attention being drawn to the charity during an already tense period.

In an official statement, Anti-Slavery International confirmed the end of the partnership and thanked Eugenie for her support.

“After seven years, our patronage from HRH Princess Eugenie of York has come to an end. We thank the Princess very much for her support for Anti-Slavery International and hope she continues to work toward ending slavery and delivering freedom for everyone,” the organisation said.

The development comes as Andrew continues to face intense public scrutiny over his past links to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, whose trafficking scandal remains a subject of global attention.

Reports also suggest Andrew was recently questioned by authorities as part of a separate investigation, although he has not been charged with any crime.
